Annual MEA Photo Contest

Open to all employees and hired photographers, amateur or pro, of MEA member companies.

To be eligible for any category, a photograph must have been shot by the entrant since January 1, 2024. This date applies to all images in a composite.

The photographer:

• retains copyright of all submitted work.
• certifies that they are the sole creator of the submitted photograph and can provide copyright permission.
• warrants that the rights (of any kind) to the photograph have not previously been sold or granted to any third party.
• warrants that the image includes no copyright infringements, and all model release forms have been signed and can be produced upon request.

All entrants agree to the storage of their images in electronic form for the purpose of judging the competition and the private distribution of those images as required to complete the judging process.

Upon entry, the photographer/submitter (“submitter”) grants MEA world-wide, royalty-free rights and licenses to use the submitted images in perpetuity, with attribution to the submitter, in electronic or print form in any and all MEA materials including but not limited to print and electronic issues of Energy | Empowered magazine, MEA marketing, training and EnergyU materials. The photographer also grants rights to the technology host, Woobox, to use submissions for the promotion of Woobox as found in their User Terms Of Service (www.woobox.com/terms).

The contest opens October 1, 2024. All entries must be received through MEAenergy.org by 5:00 PM Central Time on January 13, 2025.

You may submit up to 10 photographs per category for a contest total of 40 submissions. The same photo may be entered in up to two categories. To be displayed in our online gallery, photographs must be submitted as .jpeg, .jpg, or .png files, at least 1024 x 768 pixels (5”x7” print), and have a dpi between 200-300. 1 MB files are preferred, 50 MB is the max file size accepted. You must complete a separate form for each photo submitted.

This contest does not require an entrance fee.

Please submit photographs and requested information, including photo captions, online through our website at MEAenergy.org/photo-contest and the photo contest software Woobox.

Judging is based on the following elements, in order of importance:

1. Entry requirements
2. Subject
3. Impact & Creativity
4. Composition

Winning photographs will be featured in print and digital versions of the spring issue of Energy | Empowered, on MEAenergy.org, and all MEA social media channels. Photos will also be shown at all MEA events with over 100 attendees. Photographers and/or companies will be recognized in MEA news and via the permanent addition of copyright/attribution on the photo (post-contest).
