Accident Prevention Awards

Honoring those who put safety first

The Accident Prevention Award was designed for MEA to recognize member companies with outstanding safety records and to provide a safety benchmark among natural gas and electric utilities.

The award was based on DART rate data which served two important functions:

  • Benchmarking – All companies that submit data annually may receive a summary copy of the results. This data is intended to help benchmark your safety record among similar companies.
    Note: All company-specific data is confidential; data published for benchmarking is shared in a summary format only. (Award recipient company data is published.)
  • Accident Prevention Award – Companies with the lowest incident rate in their respective category receive an MEA Accident Prevention Award.
