Joseph Rister of Ameren Receives MEA Meritorious Service Award
Bloomington, Minn. (September 13, 2022) — MEA Energy Association (MEA) is honored to present Joseph Rister, line troubleman, of Ameren, with a Meritorious Service Award for assisting a person in distress.
Rister had finished a job and was heading to his next when he noticed a car pull over to the side of the road. He saw a motorist frantically run from the driver’s side to the passenger door. Rister got out and saw a child, who suffers from daily seizures, slumped over in the car. The driver said she dropped the child’s medicine and couldn’t find it between the seats. Rister joined the search, found the medicine, and the mother was able to administer it to her child, preventing a worst-case scenario. After the child gained consciousness, Rister continued aid by following them to the emergency room before parting ways.
“MEA is honored to present the Meritorious Service Award to Joseph,” said John Gann, membership sr. vice president of MEA. “His actions are a testament to who he is and to the training he receives as an Ameren employee.”
Ameren, a longtime member of MEA, was created by the combination of three Illinois utilities (CIPSCO Incorporated, CILCO Inc. and Illinois Power Company) and Union Electric Company of St. Louis. The name comes from combining the words American and Energy.
MEA Life Sustaining Awards are presented to individuals from member companies who have saved the life of another. The Meritorious Service Award is granted to recognize those who have performed actions in the service of another that are considered above and beyond. Applications for the MEA Life Sustaining and Meritorious Service Award are reviewed and approved by the Executive Committee of MEA’s Board of Directors.
